Buthiers
Buthiers is a small village in Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, with 749 residents as of 2021.
History
Known for its rich history, the area has prehistoric artifacts, including ancient stone polishing tools on rocks. In 2005, a Neolithic skeleton (from around 5000 BC) was discovered here, with signs of a healed forearm amputation. Another grave from around 4900-4600 BC was also found with a turtle shell and stone tools as burial offerings.
In medieval times, a stone sarcophagus containing adult and child remains was uncovered near the church. Historically, Buthiers was linked to the Diocese of Sens, governed by the Malesherbes lordship until 1790, and neighboring parishes were under Montmartre Abbey.
